Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is earning high praise for his acting skills in the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2 movie.

That praise is coming from none other than co-star Christopher McDonald, who plays the ever-amusing, iconic character Shooter McGavin.

McDonald described Kelce as a natural on screen, while pointing to his charisma, discipline, and charm in an interview with People magazine.

No wonder Tay Tay has taken such a liking to Travis.

“Travis Kelce has been out there, and I just really liked him as a person. He is really funny. Way too handsome, by the way, but really a good actor actually,” McDonald told the outlet. “Surprisingly good.”

McDonald Also Praises Travis Kelce’s Golf Skills

Travis Kelce’s role in the sequel remains vague, but McDonald noted their scenes together were fantastic, suggesting the three-time Super Bowl champ’s performance will impress audiences.

And, McDonald believes the Chiefs’ superstar has skills on the links as well.

“I think he’s (Kelce) got game. He’s a good athlete,” McDonald added. “He’s a beast. I’m sure he kills the ball.”

At least one fan could certainly concur. A woman was struck in the back of the head by a wayward Kelce golf shot at the American Century Championship in Nevada last July.

“When I got hit, I immediately felt pain,” the 37-year-old told People. “I was just trying to focus on not blacking out, and at that point, I didn’t really know what had happened.”

“I then heard people start yelling and screaming that it was Travis Kelce’s golf shot, and ‘Oh my god, that girl just got hit in the head.’”

It sounds like a scene straight out of … Happy Gilmore, if you think about it.

Big T’s Acting Chops

Travis Kelce’s appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 comes as he has been announced to star in a buddy-cop comedy movie called Loose Cannons.

He also hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023 and signed on for hosting duties on the game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for Amazon.

He does appear to have some acting options opening up for him should he retire after this season.

Kelce slid into the trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 as a country club attendant of some sort, looking more like a character out of Oppenheimer.

Happy Gilmore 2 aims to recapture the magic of the original 1996 film, where Adam Sandler played a failed hockey player who discovers an unexpected talent for golf. Or at least, one single aspect of golf.

The film became a cultural phenomenon known for its humor, memorable lines, and Sandler’s over-the-top performance.

Fans seem excited about Happy Gilmore 2, while others are nervous that it will ruin the memory of the original. The latter seems highly unlikely with the massive gap between projects.

In the nearly three decades since its premiere, Happy Gilmore has enjoyed consistent airplay as a classic film,...
