This was the ideal timing for Hunter and Lenee to enjoy their honeymoon, as the prized Jaguars’ two-way rookie will have to report to training camp in two weeks. He’s got a little more downtime before beginning a professional career, so good on the newlyweds for making the most of it right now.
The Jaguars traded up via the Cleveland Browns to select the Heisman Trophy winner at No. 2 overall, after the Tennessee Titans used the top pick on Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The 23-year-old Travis Hunter signed his four-year, $46.6 million rookie deal last week.
Hunter will make his NFL debut on Sept. 7, when the rebuilt Jaguars play host to Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers (1:00 p.m. EST) at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars have lost three of their season openers, so we’ll see if they can kick off the Hunter-Liam Coen era on a high note with a rebuilding Carolina team coming to town.
