Travis Hunter wasted no time reminding everyone why he went No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. On just the second day of Jacksonville Jaguars OTAs, Hunter made jaws drop with a standout play that had teammates buzzing and social media lighting up.
Lined up at cornerback across from wide receiver Darius Lassiter, Hunter tracked a deep ball down the sideline, timed his leap perfectly, and got a fingertip on the ball.
Some angles made it look like an interception. Others suggested the ball hit the ground. Either way, Hunter erased what would’ve been a big gain with a burst of athleticism few can match.
Though he’s been splitting time between offense and defense in OTAs, alternating days at each position, Hunter’s defensive performance Tuesday is already shifting the conversation in the Jaguars’ facility. Secondary coach Ron Milus reportedly asked head coach Liam Coen to consider giving Hunter more reps on defense, and it’s easy to see why.

Hunter’s arrival comes at a crucial time for a Jacksonville defense that ranked 31st in total yards allowed per game last season and near the bottom in points given up. He brings not only elite ball skills but also an edge that has defined his game since college. After just two years at Colorado, where he played both wide receiver and cornerback, Hunter left as one of the most electric players in school history. His final stat line reads like a career, not two seasons: 153 receptions, nearly 2,000 receiving yards, 20 touchdowns, 66 tackles, seven interceptions, and 16 pass breakups.
The video of his acrobatic tip against Lassiter quickly made the rounds online and even drew a reaction from his alma mater. Colorado reposted the clip on its official X account with the caption, “ONE OF ONE.”

Now, as the Jaguars prepare for their Week 1 matchup against Carolina, questions remain about how they’ll use their most unique rookie. Will he be Trevor Lawrence’s next go-to target, or the lockdown corner the defense has lacked? For now, Travis Hunter is just doing what he always has, making plays and making people watch.
