Warren Sharp of Sharp Football doesn’t think highly of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver corps. He has the unit tabbed in tier D among NFL teams.

“Steelers fans telling me the Steelers receiving corps is average or better. A BACKUP RB led them in receptions last year and won team MVP – a backup RB! he’s no longer on the team,” Sharp wrote on X.

“They had 1 player in the top-100 in Open Score (ability to get open). They had 1 WR with 35+ receptions, receivers caught just 41% of passes thrown 10+ yards (#29). 31% of receptions went to RBs (#2 most).

“Their only new additions who could change things in 2026? Pittman will help underneath & pairs well with Rodgers in that regard but is not enough to vault this unit to an avg unit [in my opinion].

“Let’s not go crazy with what Bernard brings (hope he’s great) from a team who has the track record that PIT does of drafting WRs in the top-3 rounds: 2024: Roman Wilson 2022: Hit on Pickens 2020: Chase Claypool 2019: Diontae Johnson 2018: James Washington 2015: Sammie Coates 2014: Dri Archer 2013: Markus Wheaton etc.”

Sharp is not the only analyst that is skeptical of the Steelers’ skill players. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell ranked the Steelers’ skilled-position players No. 21 in the NFL. The same spot they were in last year.

The Steelers traded for Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason, but Barnwell thinks he’s a brutal fit in Mike McCarthy‘s offense.

“Another offseason brought another trade for an expensive wide receiver by an organization that had developed a reputation for finding its own in the middle rounds of the draft,” Barnwell wrote. “Michael Pittman Jr. is a good fit for what Aaron Rodgers wants to do (get the ball out quickly for short completions) but a bad fit for what the Steelers need (a wide receiver who can stretch teams downfield).”

Aaron Rodgers got rid of the ball at a 2.59-second average mark last season, which ranked as the fastest among 33 qualified NFL quarterbacks, according to NFL’s Next Gen Stats.
