Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski reunited at Fanatics Fest 2025 in New York City and promptly engaged in a prank that turned into a total disaster.
During a playful stunt, Brady tossed a Lombardi Trophy to Gronkowski in a crowded hallway, attempting to recreate their iconic Super Bowl boat parade moment in 2021.
Gronkowski, who won four Super Bowls with Brady (New England and Tampa Bay), caught the trophy, but its base broke off upon impact, prompting gasps from onlookers.
“You broke it!” Brady shouted as he ran down the hallway to see how bad things were.
“I didn’t break it! You threw it way too hard!” Gronkowski fired back.
Brady suggested Gronk was “washed up.”

Now, the playful banter is acceptable solely because this appears to be a replica of the Lombardi trophy. Had it been the real deal, the boys might not have been in such a joking mood.
But man, they’ve regressed quite a bit since that viral boat toss, it seems.

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has a uniquely interesting proposal. He wants the Lombardi trophy to be named after the guy who has won it the most.
That’d be Brady.
Belichick offered up the unsolicited advice on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray. During their conversation, he admitted it’s the players who do more to win championships than coaches.
Gray, though, countered that the Lombardi trophy is named after a coach for a reason. And specifically, that coach.
“They don’t name it the Starr Trophy. They name it the Lombardi Trophy,” he quipped.
“Maybe they should name it the Brady Trophy,” Belichick told Gray. “He won seven of them.”
"They don't name it the Starr Trophy. They name it the Lombardi Trophy."
"Maybe they should name it the Brady Trophy."

The Brady/Gronkowski Lombardi trophy flub was reminiscent of Vice President JD Vance’s struggle with Ohio State’s championship trophy earlier this year.
Vance, an Ohio State alumnus, nearly dropped the Buckeyes’ 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship trophy during a White House ceremony celebrating their victory.
While attempting to lift the trophy, unaware that its base was detachable, Vance caused it to split.
Fortunately, Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson and Coach Ryan Day quickly prevented a complete fumble.
