Tom Brady is coming out of retirement, again. This time he won’t be playing for an NFL team though. Instead, he and his longtime NFL teammate Rob Gronkowski will be teaming up to play in a flag football tournament being held in Saudi Arabia.
The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will take place on March 21, 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In addition to Brady and Gronk, Saquon Barkley, CeeDee Lamb, Christian McCaffrey, Sauce Gardner, Myles Garrett, Brock Bowers, Maxx Crosby, Tyreek Hill, and Odell Beckham Jr. have all also committed to playing. Other participants will include “stars across sports and entertainment,” according to a press release announcing the tournament.
The round-robin tournament, part of Riyadh Season, will take place at Kingdom Arena. Pete Carroll, Sean Payton, and Kyle Shanahan will serve as the coaches of each team of eight players. The entire tournament will air live on Fox Sports and be available on Tubi with Kevin Hart serving as the host.
“I couldn’t be more excited to return to the field, get the competitive juices flowing alongside some of the game’s brightest stars and iconic legends, and bring a truly unique global sports event to fans everywhere during Riyadh Season,” said Tom Brady. “I have always admired the power of flag football and how it connects fans of all ages, and it’s awesome to be able to showcase the sport on such a global stage while joining together so many incredibly skilled athletes. I’m looking forward to partnering with Turki Alalshikh, Fanatics, OBB Media, my team at Shadow Lion and my friends at Fox Sports to showcase some fierce competition. And I will be bringing home the trophy.”
Brady also revealed to Page Six that he and Gronk will be reunited at the tournament. “I would never go against him,” he said.
The tournament will use Olympic-style flag football rules, including being played on a 50-yard field with two 10-yard end zones, a 5-on-5 format, and two 20-minute halves. The three teams will each have a mix of athletes and entertainers.
