Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady revealed some news about his dog this week that sounds like something out of a science fiction movie.

There is little doubt that the New England Patriots icon is one of the greatest football players of all time. He was driven and passionate about winning football games, and no player posted more Ws in NFL history. But not only did he dominate in the regular season, he was second-to-none come playoff time, and it’s why he made 10 trips to the Super Bowl during his legendary career, and won seven of those games.

However, in the final years of his career, football fans started to become more aware that Brady is a little weird. The way he handled his retirement from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was odd. Signing a deal to be a game commentator for FOX a year before he started was unusual. How he attained his stake in the Raiders was questionable. And how he showed his love for his son was a hot-button topic on social media this year.

While legendary contemporary Peyton Manning has transitioned into a life as a media darling, Brady has developed a narrative as a guy who’s a little odd. Well, he added a new chapter to that idea this week.

Tom Brady cloned his dog?

“I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed,” Brady revealed in a statement obtained by People.

“Colossal gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog.”

  • Tom Brady net worth: $300 million

That’s right, Brady’s new dog Junie is a clone of his deceased dog Lua, who died in 2023. Is cloning a pet a bad thing? Of course not. Brady has the money to pay for such an expensive procedure, and he has the freedom to do so.

However, millions of dogs and cats badly need a home and love at shelters across the country right now. Brady could have gotten him and his family one, two, or three shelter pets while doing something wonderful for an animal who needed help. Instead, he opened the door to a horror movie scenario by getting another version of a dog that lived a long and fruitful life and did not pass too early.
