The quarterback class in the 2025 NFL Draft was anything but stellar. Yes, Cam Ward eventually staked his claim as the clear No. 1 pick, but behind him, you had several guys taken that many consider a big game. The 2026 NFL Draft, however, may well have an absolutely loaded quarterback class, and Todd McShay of The Ringer has an interesting pick for his QB1.

McShay, speaking on his The McShay Show podcast, advocated for South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers as the top quarterback prospect in next year’s draft. McShay put Sellers over other big names such as Texas Longhorns superstar Arch Manning, Penn State’s Drew Allar, and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier.

Todd McShay Says South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers Could Be QB1 In 2026 NFL Draft

“Why aren’t people talking about LaNorris Sellers?” McShay asks.

“You know I love him,” co-host Steve Muench responded. “When you see him at his best, he’s unstoppable. He’s a great runner when he takes off. Strong arm. Built well. Can handle the physical beating he’s going to take at quarterback and shake off sacks. Moves around really well.”

But Muench also admitted that Sellers is far from a sure thing.

“Some decision-making has to be better. He misses on some throws. I thought there were some drops that hurt him last year, too, though,” Muench said.

At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Sellers had the size and strength that NFL scouts drool over. He has a big arm, and while he’s not Lamar Jackson, he’s a more than capable runner.

Like Allar, Nussmeier and Manning, Sellers still needs to prove it on the field. He was inconsistent as a redshirt freshman, throwing for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions in his first season as a starter. In games against Alabama and Missouri, Sellers looked every bit like a future No. 1 pick. But he struggled against rival Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl as well as in losses to LSU and Ole Miss.

Should Sellers put it all together for the Gamecocks in 2025, they could well be College Football Playoff contenders and he could certainly be the first quarterback off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft.
