Add another name into the hat of billionaires reportedly interested in becoming the next owner of the Seattle Seahawks.

Todd Boehly, who has minority ownership stakes in Major League Baseball’s three-peat seeking World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the National Basketball Association’s storied Los Angeles Lakers, is looking at forming a group that would bid to own the Seahawks. Boehly’s sports portfolio also includes a majority stake in French soccer club RC Strasbourg, along with Chelsea in the English Premier League, as well as the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.

Here are the details from Semafor:

Billionaire financier Todd Boehly is weighing a bid for the Seattle Seahawks, a deal that would add an NFL team to a stable that includes stakes in the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, and other professional sports teams.

Boehly has approached potential partners including Guggenheim Partners CEO Mark Walter, with whom he jointly owns the Lakers and Chelsea soccer club, and Middle East investors about teaming up on a bid for the Seahawks, people familiar with the matter said.

Boehly’s interest in NFL ownership is not new. A few years ago he was in the mix for the Washington Commanders before it was ultimately sold to a group led by Josh Harris.

If nothing else, in a pair of leagues without salary caps, the Dodgers and Chelsea respectively spend a lot of money. It’s worked out for the Dodgers to the tune of back-to-back World Series, whereas Chelsea has not performed particularly well in Premier League play since Boehly became the owner in 2022. They will not even partake in any European club competitions next season after finishing 10th out of 20 in the recently completed PL season.

Other notable people with reported interest in the Seahawks include Boston Celtics investors Aditya Mittal and Wyc Grousbeck, as well as San Francisco 49ers investor Vinod Khosla, who would obviously have to dump his 49ers stake if he invests in the Seahawk.
