Thursday Night Football, Week 6. Tonight we have a clash of NFC East rivals as the New York Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles.
The New York Giants have gotten off to a rough start to the season with a 1-4 record, good for sole possession of last place in the NFC East. The Giants’ only win came last week against the equally wretched 1-4 New Orleans Saints. Now the Giants seek to start a modest winning streak against the NFC East leading Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles have sole possession of first place in the NFC East with a 4-1 record. They got off to a 4-0 start before losing their first game last week against the Denver Broncos. The Eagles lead the NFL with just one offensive turnover in their first five games. However, other than the turnovers, the Eagles have looked like a pretty pedestrian team this season. They rank 31st in the NFL in passing offense, 25th in rushing offense, and 20th in total defense. This has been something less than a dominant team, but they have managed to win four out of five games, all decided by one score.
The Eagles have dominated this rivalry lately, taking seven of the last eight games and 15 of the last 18 between the two teams.
