Behind the Steel Curtain
The injury to T.J. Watt has dominated NFL headlines for the last 24 hours. Watt was sent to a Pittsburgh hospital after experiencing discomfort on Wednesday, and it was revealed that the discomfort came from an injury to his lung. His brother, J.J. Watt, has now updated everyone on the specifics of the injury.
“Yesterday TJ had successful surgery to stabilize and repair a partially collapsed lung suffered Wednesday after a dry needling treatment session at the facility,” Watt posted on X. “Recovery timeline is still TBD, but all went well and he is being released from the hospital today. He and his family are very appreciative of everyone’s kind words and well wishes.”
This comes after NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the injury Watt’s injury was nothing major.
“This is not a major issue,” Pelissero said on Good Morning Football. “Easy for me to say, it’s not my lung, but not any type of a major or long-term issue for T.J. Watt. The issue has been fixed. What he needs now is rest.”
It is unlikely that Watt plays on Monday night against the Dolphins, but we will find out for sure when the team releases its final practice report.
