On Saturday, I went to the Alabama game with my two oldest boys and my dad. It was an 11:00 kick, so when we got in the car to drive back to Nashville, the Tennessee vs. Georgia game was just getting underway. We fired up the 104.5 The Zone app and got to listen to Mike Keith call the game. It was a bittersweet moment. I was thrilled to get to listen to him call the game all the way home, but it made me really sad that he is no longer the Voice of the Titans.
The Tennessee Titans announced this week that they will be inducting Keith into the Ring of Honor at Nissan Stadium at halftime of the game against the Indianapolis Colts. That is a well-deserved honor. He has been synonymous with this team since they moved to Tennessee in the late 90s.
Keith gained national fame with his call of the Music City Miracle. If you can listen to that and not get goosebumps, you might want to head to a doctor and get yourself checked out. I’ll still always yell “SAAAAACK!” when the Titans take down an opposing quarterback (if that ever happens this year), and hear him yelling “TOUCHDOWN TITANS!” every time they score.
Mike was always great to me. He would take the time to come on my podcast whenever he could, and would even reach out unprompted when he saw something I had done that he appreciated. He’s the best!
