A member of the practice squad in Foxborough is moving on to Nashville.
The Tennessee Titans signed outside linebacker Truman Jones to the 53-man roster on Monday, as announced by his agency, JL Sports.
The move leaves the New England Patriots with an open spot among the group of 17. It also leaves Mike Vrabel without one of his favorites.
“I’m not supposed to have favorites, but I would say that Truman’s close to the list if I had one,” the head coach told reporters earlier in October. “He’s an extremely hard worker. I would say that every time we have a show player of the week on the [defense] or special teams, I would say that he’s probably been one of those two, if not both, throughout the year. He’s done a nice job. He prepares as a starter each and every week.”
Jones, 25, was an offseason award winner at Gillette Stadium. And after clearing waivers at the NFL’s cutdown deadline in August, he was retained on the practice squad and served as a standard elevation in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. His first appearance of 2025 featured 11 snaps on special teams as part of the kickoff return and kickoff coverage units before reverting.
Late last season, Jones joined the practice squad and was soon signed to the active roster. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound former Harvard captain made his NFL debut in the January finale versus the Buffalo Bills. It brought two tackles between defense and the kicking game.
Entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2023, Jones earned a Super Bowl LVIII ring while spending his rookie campaign on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad.
