Brian Callahan meets with the media before the opening of minicamp.
The Tennessee Titans kick off their mandatory minicamp today. This will wrapup the offseason program, and most of the players and staff will get out of town until training camp opens. As an aside, that is always a worrisome time for coaches and front offices as the players are off doing their own thing for a few weeks.
Callahan said that everyone is in attendance this week. It is good that they can the work in without any of the side-show contract distractions. He did say, however, that they will be smart with some of the veterans. One of those guys is L’Jarius Sneed. He is here but won’t be doing any work this week.
Sneed is a guy the Titans really need to get back on track this year. They gave up a third-round pick to get him before last season. It did not pay off in 2024. Callahan said today they know what Sneed can be. They just need to see it here.
Callahan also said that Cam Ward will get the majority of the first team reps this week. Ward is obviously going to be the starting quarterback for this team in week 1, but for now, Callahan isn’t ready to name him the starter.
As I mentioned yesterday, Ward is already putting in the work he needs to be ready when the Titans head to Denver to take on the Broncos.
