Titans offense bounces back on Wednesday

The Tennessee Titans’ offense was so bad on Sunday that practice ended with Brian Callahan chewing out the entire unit. In reality, the offense has been pretty bad the majority of camp to this point. That isn’t completely unexpected with a rookie quarterback, but people are starting to panic a little bit.

The good news is the offense bounced back today. Cam Ward was still “mid” in the one-on-ones, according to Paul Kuharsky, but he was better in the team period and really good in the two-minute. That goes down as progress in my book, and progress is exactly what we are hoping to see from the rookie quarterback. The next big test for Ward and the offense comes tomorrow when the Titans will take part in joint practices against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On the front, don’t freak out if things don’t go well for Ward and the offense in those practices. It is going to be his first real test against an NFL defense. We don’t want to see him completely fall on his face, but there will probably be some bumps in the road throughout his work against the Buccaneers, who are coached by one of the best defensive minds in the league, Todd Bowles.

I am excited to see what comes out of these practices. Ward strikes me as a gamer – meaning he is going to be better when the stakes are higher.
