Unfortunately, the Tennessee Titans’ season is over. Chad Brinker said on Monday night that their efforts right now are all going toward supporting Mike McCoy. That was a nice thing for him to say, but the truth is, they are already looking toward the future. The first step in that will be determining which players from the current team can bring them assets to help the team in the future.
Jeremy Fowler had some thoughts on what the Titans will do before the NFL trade deadline. He says, and I quote, “the plan right now is to keep defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.” Will that plan change between now and the deadline? I’d be willing to bet they could be swayed with a couple of first round picks on the table.
Some guys he did mention as potential trade targets for the Titans are EDGE Arden Key, CB Roger McCreary, and TE Chig Okonkwo. All three of those guys are slated to be free agents at the end of the season. The Titans will only be able to get day three picks for those guys, but the goal is going to be to build draft capital to be able to move around in the draft.
If they do trade McCreary, the cornerback room is going to be an absolute disaster. That would mean two of the three starting corners from the beginning of the year have been traded.
