Titans news: Dysfunction starts at the top
Music City Miracles Music City Miracles

The Tennessee Titans are the laughing stock of the NFL. They have an owner who wants to pull the strings at every turn and hide while she does it. Until that changes, it is going to take a whole lot of luck for them to become a winning franchise. As Metallica would say, it’s sad but true.

  • Albert Breer highlighted the dysfunction over at SI. An interesting note from that piece, Breer says the Titans were worried about A.J. Brown’s knee before they traded him. Maybe they need to get a new team doctor (Actually, I think they have since then).
  • Mike McCoy had a message for the fanbase yesterday:

With regards to our fan base, I understand the frustration,” McCoy said. “Our (1-5) record is what it is. But I can promise you we are going to work our tails off every day we walk in this facility, as a coaching staff, as players, to go out there and do whatever we can to give us our best opportunity to win, and that’s what it is all about. It’s about winning. So, we have to go out there and play with great energy, great effort, play with a swagger, complementary football. All three phases playing together, that is the big thing. We all understand where we are, that we’ve struggled on offense. And we have to fix that. And that is the No.1 thing we have to do right now moving forward, we have to fix it and clean up some things on offense. … When you play complementary football and help each other out, good things are going to happen.

So, to the fans, we are going to go out there, and we are going to fight our tails off and get rolling.

  • McCoy said yesterday that Bo Hardegree will continue to call the plays. The offense has been pretty terrible with him calling the plays, but that makes the most sense for the team right now. You can’t give Cam Ward a third playcaller in his rookie year.
  • Las Vegas Raiders EDGE Maxx Crosby had positive things to say about Ward on his podcast following Sunday’s game. There is so much positive buzz about Ward. Hopefully, McCoy can find a way to highlight his strengths on the field.
  • There is a lot of talk about whether or not the Titans’ coaching job will be an attractive one. If Ward can get better as the season goes along, guys will be lined up to coach this team.
