Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is certainly one of the main characters of Super Bowl week. The three-time Super Bowl Champion is one win away from joining Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, and Tom Brady as the only four-time Super Bowl champion quarterbacks.

Of course, many online are spreading conspiracy theories that the NFL is using referees to rig games for the Kansas City Chiefs. One TikTokker tried to make a splash when he asked Patrick Mahomes a particularly pointed question at Super Bowl Media Day.

In any sport, when a team keeps winning, the conspiracies start flowing. The current line against the Chiefs, that they are getting help from the referees as the league has a vested interest in keeping its marquee quarterback in Patrick Mahomes playing and Taylor Swift on people’s television screens doesn’t really stand up to any logical scrutiny. Ads for games like the Super Bowl are sold well in advance. Those ad prices don’t change depending on who makes it this far.

But, after the Chiefs were the beneficiaries of two close calls against Buffalo in the AFC Championship Game (there were plenty of calls that didn’t go their way, too), the conspiracy theory only heated up. Tiktokker Rich Sherternlieb somehow got Super Bowl Media Day credentials and asked Patrick Mahomes who his favorite referee was. He also asked Travis Kelce a ridiculous question, as well. Take a look.

He’s clearly trying to get some shock value out of this. But, Mahomes and Kelce have been at this for a while. He’s not going to get the desired reaction out of those two. And, he’s likely squandered his chance at ever getting Media Day credentials ever again with those ridiculous questions.

Hopefully, Sunday’s Super Bowl between Kansas City and Philadelphia won’t come down to a call or two, no matter who those calls benefit.
