PITTSBURGH — Three Pittsburgh Steelers have been ruled out of the team’s Week 16 game agains the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Cornerback James Pierre, left guard Isaac Seumalo, outside linebacker T.J. Watt have all been ruled out, the team announced on Friday.
Pierre suffered a calf injury against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14, and while he was able to return to that game, he has now missed six consecutive practices and will miss his second straight game. Asante Samuel Jr. is expected to once again start at outside cornerback alongside Joey Porter Jr.
Seumalo injured his triceps during the win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. He was quickly ruled out of a return on Monday night, and has not yet returned to practice. Spencer Anderson replaced him against the Dolphins and is in line to make his fifth start of the season.
Watt will miss his second straight game after suffering a partially collapsed lung last week. He has yet to return to practice. His backup Nick Herbig, has been officially listed as doubtful to play. Herbig was limited in his first practice Friday back after a hamstring injury on Monday night. Rookie Jack Sawyer is next in line to start at outside linebacker.
