A football ticket to an NFL team like the Kansas City Chiefs is not cheap. At minimum, you’re probably looking at $200, and on average, closer to $300—extra if you want to sit near the action.

So if you shell out that much, you might think there’s not much you could do to get kicked out. But two Chiefs fans in Kansas City learned that standing up too much might be enough.

Fans Gets Kicked Out Of Arrowhead Stadium For Too Much Standing

TikTok user Matt (@mattchewt785) posted a video of an Arrowhead Stadium staff member explaining why he and the woman he was with were being removed from the game. The video got over 1.8 million views.

“We’re being kicked out for code of conduct, and our code of conduct was what?” Matt asks her at the beginning of the clip.

The staff member responds, “You are disrupting the enjoyment of another…” Matt immediately interjects, “Because we were standing up cheering for the Chiefs?”

“Excessively, yes,” the staff member says.

Matt repeats the phrase back to her. “Excessively cheering for the Chiefs?”

“No. Excessively standing,” she corrects him.

Matt and the woman behind the camera insist they only stood when the Chiefs were on the field. “We sat down during timeouts,” he says. She adds, “He literally watched me sit down.”

The staff member holds her ground. “They observed that you were non-compliant and never sat down,” she clarifies, most likely referring to the ushers.

Matt keeps pushing, “I don’t understand how it’s a code of conduct issue for standing up and cheering.”

The staffer replies that it’s “a non-compliance issue.” She says they can contact the Chiefs on Monday if they want to challenge the decision but warns that there likely won’t be a refund.

He tries again. He says, “So just to be clear, the code of conduct violation was standing up and cheering?”

“Standing excessively,” she answers.

He turns to other fans and asks, “Do you guys stand up and cheer for the Chiefs?”

“No,” one fan replies.

“That’s because you’re a f—— Lions fan,” the woman next to Matt snaps.

“Apparently standing and cheering for the Chiefs is against the code of conduct at Arrowhead stadium,” Matt adds in the caption. “Someone explain that to me?”

What Does Arrowhead’s Code Of Conduct Actually Say?

Arrowhead Stadium does have a fan code of conduct, and it includes several clauses that staff might interpret broadly. That includes “behavior that is unruly, disruptive, threatening, or illegal,” intoxication, or “interference with the progress of the event.”

But there’s also a specific clause that says fans must not “unreasonably obstruct the view of other guests.”

That’s likely the one the staff member referenced in the video. We’ve reached out to Arrowhead Stadium for clarification.

Have Other Fans Been Kicked Out For This Reason?

Apparently so. On Reddit, one user said they were actually arrested at an NFL game for “excessive standing.” They said they refused to sit...
