A few days ago, the Caleb Williams net drill video went viral thanks to haters and trolls who have nothing better to do than take shots at the Chicago Bears. Even if you aren’t active on social media, I’m sure you’ve all seen it by now because it was picked up by some national and local outlets, who pushed it to an even wider audience.

In case you’ve managed to avoid it, it was a drill where Caleb threw quick passes at a net, and when he missed the targets, he stormed off in frustration. I just saw a competitor pissed at himself, but you know how the masses wanted to frame it.

At today’s training camp practice, there was another video of Williams throwing the football, but this one wasn’t going to get the trolls to climb out from under their bridges, but it should go just as viral.

He drops down to sidearm to wrap the pass around his blocker, hits rookie tight end Colston Loveland, who slips a tackle and picks up a big gain. But the best part of the clip is what he does after releasing the pass.

As for that net drill video, Caleb addressed that at today’s press conference before even letting the Sun Times’ Patrick Finley get his question out.

“So there’s this video…” Finley started to ask, and Williams immediately started laughing.

“It’s hilarious,” he said.

He went on to call his storming off “fake anger” as he was just competing with friends and having fun. He also provided additional context to the drill.

“It’s a quick-delivery drill,” he said in his Thursday presser. “You catch it, you’re not trying to get the laces or anything. It’s not like you’re going through reads. It’s catch, deliver, and try to deliver to the bottom left corner. We’re trying to aim as if it’s a screen. It’s a competition between us and the guys. How fast you can get it out; how accurate you can get it out? They just so happened to blow that one out and not the other ones. It’s a fun drill to work on accuracy and not using the laces, and also just getting your feet up under you and working on throws.”

At the end ogf the day, trolls are going to troll, abd Caleb is going to keep working to be the best quarterbacl he can nbe.

“I just laugh at it. I look at it and I laugh at ‘em, as always,” Williams said.
