Bill Belichick has never been one to entertain off-the-field drama, and on Tuesday, the 73-year-old coach made that crystal clear. Speaking to ESPN at the ACC Spring Meetings, Belichick brushed aside the noise surrounding his relationship with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, saying it’s got nothing to do with his latest chapter, leading North Carolina football.
“That’s really off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said. The former Patriots coach, now preparing for his first college season, emphasized that he’s focused on the job ahead.
“I’m excited to be back in coaches meetings,” he added.
The headlines haven’t let up since Belichick and Hudson went public with their relationship in 2024. Their 49-year age gap has fueled public curiosity, and their appearance on CBS last month added more fuel. When anchor Tony Dokoupil asked Hudson about their relationship, she cut off the question quickly. “We’re not talking about this,” she said bluntly.

Belichick and Hudson reportedly met on a flight in 2021, well before he left the Patriots after 24 seasons and six Super Bowls. Since signing a five-year, $50 million deal with UNC in December, Belichick has brought Hudson to Chapel Hill, even onto the field during spring practice. Her presence sparked rumors of a ban from UNC facilities, which the university firmly denied.
“While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,” UNC said in a statement to The New York Post. “Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.”
Still, concern over the relationship lingers behind the scenes. On his “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast, former ESPN personality Pablo Torre cited a Belichick family source saying there’s “deep worry” about how Hudson could impact the legendary coach’s legacy. “There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation- everything he has built and worked for over decades,” the source said.
Belichick stays focused on football as UNC’s buyout drops from $10M to $1M on June 1. He remains unfazed, prioritizing the game.
