An old comment from Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott on Aaron Rodgers has resurfaced, and let’s just say things are about to get awkward for the AFC North club.
After waiting three months for a decision, the Steelers finally received a commitment from the four-time MVP. Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers told the Steelers he’ll put the pen to paper and attend minicamp next week.
Following his release from the New York Jets in March, Rodgers pondered offers from the Steelers and New York Giants. But after a long wait, the NFL world finally got confirmation that Rodgers is headed to Steel City.

But let’s just say that things are about to get awkward in Pittsburgh, folks. Back in February, DeShon Elliott commented on an Instagram post regarding the Steelers-Rodgers rumors and wrote, “Leave his a*s at the retirement home.”
AWKWARD: #Steelers DB DeShon Elliott spoke a couple of weeks ago about the team potentially signing Aaron Rodgers.
“LEAVE HIS ASS AT THE RETIREMENT HOME” – Elliott said.
Rodgers will sign with Pittsburgh today and be the team's starting quarterback.

And now, Mr. Elliott will have to play nice with Mr. Rodgers and come together on their quest to win a Super Bowl. All we can ask is, what could possibly go wrong?
Rodgers will make his Steelers debut in Week 1 against none other than his old team, the New York Jets. Get your popcorn ready, ladies and gentlemen.
Despite playing on a lousy Jets team last year, Rodgers showed he can still play by completing 63.0 percent of pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Pittsburgh went to the playoffs in 2023 with Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky as their three quarterbacks, and in 2024 with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Say what you want about a 41-year-old Rodgers, but the man is an upgrade over all five of those QBS.
Aaron Rodgers will team up with D.K. Metcalf, future Hall of Fame head coach Mike Tomlin and a top-10 defense. Add it all up, and the Steelers are undoubtedly ready to compete for a championship.
