Highly-decorated former NFL head coach Bill Belichick announced on Friday that he is coming out with a new book called The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football. Reactions to this news by football fans on social media almost universally fell into one of two camps.

“This past year has been full of ‘unexpected firsts’ for me,” Bill Belichick wrote on Instagram, announcing the release of the book. “I became a member of the media, I joined Instaface, and now I have the pleasure of announcing that I wrote a book which is titled: ‘The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football.’ This book encompasses stories, philosophies, and principles from my journey and career thus far.

“My life in football over the last 49+ years involved a lot of winning, losing, and more than anything: learning. I have learned from all of the teams I was apart of since early childhood, from my players, competitors, and colleagues in the NFL, and from coaches and players at UNC and the U.S. Naval Academy alongside my beloved father.

“My hope with this book is that you learn about what I learned in the NFL about sustained success, leadership, and what it means to be a team player. You can make use of those extractable lessons in your own life, no matter what type of TEAM you are apart of.”

The first set of reactions to news that Bill Belichick wrote a book on “the art of winning” came from what appears to be a large selection of New England Patriots fans.

“Can’t wait to read, coach,” one comment read.

“Oh, this is a must buy,” read another similar comment.

“Smashed that pre-order button, coach,” commented another fan.

The second set of reactions mostly went something like this…

“Step one: Have the GOAT on your team,” one NFL fan wrote.

“He should name it ‘I got carried by Tom Brady,'” another responded.

“Chapter one: Get real lucky in the draft by drafting the GOAT. He will make your career as a head coach. The end,” someone else replied.

And then there was this…

“Does the art of winning include ‘how to smash a girl 50 years younger than you?'”

Never change, internet.
