There is now a 49ers-themed KFC in Mexico

Yes, they do exist

You know some offseason weirdness will come to Niners Nation, but I didn’t think it’d arrive this early.

Earlier this week, you may have heard about the NFL opening up some themed Kentucky Fried Chicken locations in Mexico. It sounds like something to be skeptical about, but it’s true. San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Pittsburgh Steelers-themed KFCs now exist south of the border.

Our own Alex Tran, who runs the Niners Nation Instagram, posted some videos of the facility. This is definitely the 49ers-themed hangout I want to go to. Forget the authentic Mexican food; I’ll cross the border to one of these places and get the same things I could get in the USA.

I don’t know if this is temporary or if a 49ers-themed KFC will be there to stay. If you wonder why such a decision was made, the NFL is big on that international expansion thing, and the 49ers are a popular team in Mexico. They even played in the country a few years back against the Arizona Cardinals.

Regarding the menu, it looks like the typical unhealthy KFC fare we’ve come to know and love, just with 49ers logos everywhere.

I haven’t been to a KFC since they had the glazed donut chicken sandwich a few years back. As the name implies, it’s a piece of fried chicken between two glazed donuts (something that looks so bad, I had to try it, and it wasn’t at all what I thought it would taste like). If I were in the area, I’d certainly welcome a KFC sandwich and the years it’d take off my life from consuming if it had this 49ers theme.

But only in Mexico. And I don’t have any gas.
