The wounding of a head coach

The wounding of a head coach
Turf Show Times Turf Show Times

Reports are surfacing around the league that Sean McVay tore his plantar fascia during the Los Angeles Rams latest win over the Tennessee Titans. How impactful will this injury be?

When will we get back to seeing the head coach dramatically sprinting down the sidelines to call a timeout or celebrate with his players now that the coach has suffered this tough injury?

The head coach for the Rams downplayed the wound during his appearance on “The Coach McVay Show”:

“Foot’s good, you know, I did tear my plantar fascia, so…well that’s a good thing I guess it allows you to heal a bit faster, but you know, I was being dramatic limping around towards the end of the game, but…the MRI confirmed that I did that, but good news is I’m not playing…I’m just on the sidelines watching, so if I have a little cool limp to add some swag, then you’ll know why”

Sounds like McVay avoided IR, this time, but no specific timeline was given for when the coach will be back to 100%.

In all seriousness, this injury will not be monitored as closely as player injuries around the league, but we may see McVay sprint a bit less than usual, we may see the head coach jump around a bit less than usual, and if we do see McVay sporting a walking boot, we’ll know why.

Who knew, not only is running plays a dangerous task in football, but apparently so is calling the plays too. We learn something new every NFL season.
