Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn doesn’t name team captains in the traditional way. Instead, Quinn named team captains before each week’s game last season, and he’s continuing that for Year 2. There also weren’t any captain’s Cs on jerseys.
We’ll be using game captains and I’ll also utilize a group of some leaders that will be kind of with me on some decisions that or emphasis that I wanna make with the team. But, we’ll pick game captains until the postseason and then we’ll pick post-season captains. That’ll be throughout.
Washington opens up their second season under Quinn with a home game against the New York Giants. The team announced their first batch of weekly team captains today.
All three players picked for Week 1 were team captains last year, and they open the season with that honor again. Dan Quinn said, “These guys represent the standards we stand for in our locker room, and so many remarkable examples of leadership. They lift others up, and they speak in the times that leaders do. So it’s cool to have them.”
