Allen played his first seven NFL seasons with the Eagles, going to the Pro Bowl five times. He was named first-team All-Pro in 1989 and second-team All-Pro in 1991 and 1993. He was on those Buddy Ryan and Bud Carson defenses with Reggie White and Seth Joyner and all of those stars. One of the best defensive backs to ever wear the uniform.
He had 34 interceptions as an Eagle and 5 pick sixes, which remains a franchise record. Four of those pick sixes took place in a single season, back in 1993, and that held as an NFL record, tied with two other players, until DaRon Bland broke it in 2023. Allen really was a lockdown corner back then, one of the originals, and it’s kind of funny because you always look to the defensive line and the linebackers from that time period and sometimes you forget there was a Hall of Famer on the back end, plus solid guys like Andre Waters and Wes Hopkins, too. Allen really was a gamer. Don’t let any of these butt hurt Eli Manning fans diminish what he did in his NFL career. He played 226 games over 14 seasons and was always on the field.
