The New York Giants will report to training camp on July 28th in West Virginia to kick off the inaugural season for head coach John Harbaugh.
In addition to a new coaching staff, the Giants have revamped their roster via free agency and the draft. Soon it will be time to see what the new additions can do on the field.
Harbaugh runs a physical and disciplined program, which should create some very competitive position battles this summer. Most of the starters are set, but here’s a look at the top four position battles to watch for when training camp starts.

Paulson Adebo will be the team’s starting left corner, but who will start on the opposite side of him is a mystery. Deonte Banks, who has been a major disappointment since the team traded up to take him with the 24th pick in the 2023 draft, will get his last chance to show he has what it takes to be a starter.
New York also brought in Greg Newsome II on a one-year deal worth eight million this offseason after he spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025. In 17 games last season, he had 41 tackles, none in pass defense, and an interception, but has a tendency to give up big plays.
In the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Big Blue took Colton Hood from Tennessee with the 37th overall pick. The rookie fared well during OTAs and has as good of a chance as any of the veterans to be the Week 1 starter.
With uncertainty on when Malik Nabers will be able to participate on the field, whoever is number two on the receiver depth chart could be evaluated to number one if the star wideout is unable to start the season. Entering training camp, New York currently has 14 wideouts on the roster.
The wideouts vying to be the number one option for Jaxson Dart will be Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, and rookie Malachi Fields. In addition, the Big Blue also brought veterans Juju Smith-Schuster and fan favorite Odell Beckham Jr.
If Nabers starts the season on the PUP List, it will be more of an onus on the coaching staff to make sure they make the right decision on the depth chart. It will be interesting to see not just who emerges on top of the depth chart, but which receivers will make the final roster.
