The NFL honored Charlie Kirk on Thursday night. On Wednesday afternoon, Kirk was fatally shot in the neck at an event in Utah.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” President Trump announced on social media. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
Since then, several sports teams have honored Kirk ahead of games.
On Thursday night, the NFL held a moment of silence for Kirk before kickoff of the Packers-Commanders Thursday Night Football game.
“The National Football League asks that you please join us in a moment of silent reflection following the murder of Charlie Kirk. The NFL condemns all violence in our communities. It will take all of us to stop hate. Thank you.”

The Yankees were the first pro sports team to pay tribute to Kirk hours after his death on Wednesday.
“Before tonight’s game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk.” the Yankees posted on social media.
“Kirk founded the youth activist group “Turning Point USA” and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.
