While the New York Jets may have avoided the dubious distinction of being the worst team in the National Football League this year, they do still have one of the worst defense in the NFL. In fact, the Jets’ defense is actually historically bad in one key category: interceptions.
In their Week 16 loss to the New Orleans Saints over the weekend, the New York Jets failed to secure a single interception, extending the team’s streak without one to 15 games.
That 15-game streak without an interception is so bad that it’s now officially an NFL record for being the longest such drought.
The Jets’ defense last secured an interception when safety Ashtyn Davis picked off two passes during the Gang Green’s 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in the final game of the 2024 season on January 5, 2025.

The Jets certainly aren’t strangers to embarrassing records, as they have not qualified for the playoffs in 15 years, which is the longest postseason drought in all FOUR of the major American sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL).
Sitting at 3-12 on the season — the franchise’s first under rookie head coach Aaron Glenn — the Jets will close out the 2025 campaign with a home matchup against the New England Patriots before their final game of the season on the road against the Buffalo Bills.
Despite the difficult year, the Jets are expected to keep Aaron Glenn as their head coach and look to build on the culture he’s attempted to establish with the team. Finding a competent quarterback will go a long way in helping Glenn succeed, as this year he’s had to start Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and undrafted rookie quarterback Brady Cook.
