THE NEW DEN
Well, let’s give this a try! If you see a second “Den” ignore that one, it’s a learning experience and I can’t delete it. It will go away eventually 🙂
THE DAILY SPONGIE SPECIAL
An intense, scrappy two-hour practice saw multiple scuffles from vets to backups, showing both grit and discipline issues. Coach Johnson opened practice with group challenges calling for physical edge across the board.
Entering his sixth season, Kmet left practice with an assumed minor issue. Johnson reaffirmed Kmet’s versatility—using him across formations—and called Kmet one of his most trusted offensive weapons.
Stevenson, coming off last year’s infamous “Fail Mary” play, finds himself competing for a starting spot. Johnson emphasized his personality and aggression but stressed the need for consistency and discipline.
Kmet enters a pivotal year as the third head coach of his Bears career asks for dependability. Johnson’s praise came with the expectation that Kmet must prove he fits in the new offense.
Williams declared his ambition to break the Bears’ 4,000‑yard passing barrier—a mark no QB in franchise history has reached. He emphasized accuracy and consistency as keys to reaching that goal.
The first unofficial depth chart revealed: Braxton Jones leads at left tackle over Ozzy Trapilo and Kiran Amegadjie; DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Zaccheaus and Duvernay are the top WRs; Kmet and Colston Loveland tandem at tight end; and Tyson Bagent backs up Caleb Williams. Jaylon Johnson listed as a starter but not practicing yet.
Game Week status: Bears prep for preseason opener vs. Dolphins. They’ll host joint practices this week and stay downtown Saturday night to acclimate before Fan Fest. Open depth chart and step-up reps for young players highlighted.
