What position battles are you looking forward to in training camp?

In under a month, the Dallas Cowboys will report to Oxnard, California for training camp. Once there they will strap on the pads, lace up the cleats, and finally get to do something else than play touch football like they did at OTAs and minicamp. And, with the ramped up physicality, certain position battles will be pushed to the forefront.

Through the 2025 NFL Draft, trades, and free agency the Cowboys have put together a more competitive roster from top to bottom compared to last season. While there is no shortage of things to watch once training camp gets underway, there are certain position battles that are more intriguing than others.

Running back

Who else is ready to find out what the Cowboys have at the running back position once training camp gets underway? This may not be the most exciting group of RBs, but there is some upside and talent at the position that makes this position battle an intriguing one. It's going to be really interesting to see if Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders continue to show out once the pads come on and what rookie RB Jaydon Blue can finally do.

Wide receiver

The Cowboys settled the WR2 role by trading for George Pickens. They already had the WR1 role sewed up with CeeDee Lamb. Now there will be a mob of players battling for the WR3 role. Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, Ryan Flournoy and others will try to claim the prize.

Defensive end

Who replaces DeMarcus Lawrence opposite Micah Parsons in 2025? Donovan Ezeiruaku, Marshawn Kneeland, Dante Fowler, Sam Williams, and Payton Turner will all be vying for the starting job, but only one will emerge the victor. This should be one of the more entertaining position battles the Cowboys have throughout training camp and preseason. There's a lot of former high draft picks vying for the starting gig this season.

Cornerback

Outside of DaRon Bland, the mystery of unknown at the cornerback position for the Cowboys makes this one of the more intriguing position battles to track. From Kaiir Elam already turning heads in practice, to both Trevon Diggs and Shavon Revel returning from season-ending knee injuries, there's a lot to keep track of and work out at the CB position moving forward. Who starts where is still very much up in the air right now.
