Source: Tush push ban has support in competition committee - ESPN
One club source told ESPN that their team would be voting against the proposal because they don’t believe the proposal is “honest about the reason.” An NFL head coach told ESPN he thinks the proposal is motivated by pettiness because some clubs don’t have quarterbacks capable of running a push sneak. “It’s weak,” the club executive said. “It’s punishing a team who became excellent at executing the play. In 2022, when Philadelphia was the only team doing it, there was a concern that it made the game less compelling because fourth-and-short was no longer in doubt. Then other teams copied it, and they can’t do it as well. “It reeks of jealousy.”
There is only one intellectually honest reason for banning the Tush Push - BGN
I get that people may find it aesthetically unpleasant. If that’s the case, just say so. Just say you hate the way it looks. Acknowledge it’s a great play, admit you can’t stop it, admit you’re weak and feeble and that there’s nothing you can do about it, and make the argument. Frankly, the pace of play argument holds more water than the injury argument, but unless a team is acting ridiculously, like we saw with Washington, it doesn’t affect pace of play at all. The only way a ban has any intellectual honesty is if the NFL decides to ban all pushing of players on the field.
Sean McDermott on tush push opposition: Being proactive about safety is right way to go - PFT
“I’m not a doctor, so I’m not gonna get too deep into that situation in terms of how much data, how much sample,” McDermott said, via Eliot Shorr-Parks of WIP. “I don’t think that’s always really the best way to go. There’s other data out there that when you’re in a posture like we’re talking about, that can lead to serious injury. I think being responsible and proactive in that regard is the right way to go.” While the Eagles are the team linked to the play most often, the Bills have had success running it as well. McDermott said his “biggest concern” is the health and safety of players, but was noncommittal when asked if those concerns will stop the Bills from using it if the play remains legal this week.
NFL mock draft 2025: Updated projection with first-round picture becoming more clear - SB Nation
No. 32: Philadelphia Eagles — Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE — Boston College. A slightly undersized pass rusher who falls to the No. 32 pick because of his smaller size. This won’t concern the Eagles too much, who are gifted at scheming open options for pass rushers to be effective. Ezeiruaku can be an immediate upgrade as a rotational pass rusher with the potential to become a starter in years two or three.
