2025 NFL Draft: Ten rookies in the best situations to succeed in Year 1 and beyond - NFL.com
8) JIHAAD CAMPBELL. Campbell was the biggest steal of the draft. A top 10-caliber talent, he was still available late in the first round after undergoing shoulder injury in the spring. The Alabama product joins an already dynamic Eagles defense that just stomped the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, and he’ll have a chance start immediately in place of Nakobe Dean, who sustained a knee injury in mid-January. Starring as an off-ball linebacker and pass rusher in his final season with the Crimson Tide, Campbell is a player that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can utilize in multiple roles, much like Fangio did with Zack Baun last season. Campbell won’t face the pressure of having to be the guy with so many talented players around him. Fangio has a history of working with dynamic linebackers (SEE: Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman), and Campbell, who has greater upside than even Baun, is the newest member of the club.

Bryce Huff trade: Eagles reportedly send free agent flop to 49ers in exchange for draft pick - BGN
Huff’s departure certainly doesn’t come as a surprise. He was incredibly disappointing for the Eagles last season after being their top 2024 free agent signing in terms of contract value (yes, even above Saquon Barkley). Dating back to last year’s training camp, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn’t exactly seem keen on Huff’s outlook. Huff then struggled in the regular season to the point where he was “unplayable.” He suffered a thumb injury in early November that caused him to play with a cast on his hand before going on injured reserve. Huff later returned from IR but he barely played in the playoffs; he was a healthy scratch in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory.

49ers strike trade with Eagles for pass rusher who had 10 sacks playing for Robert Saleh - Niners Nation
There has been criticism of Huff’s play in run defense. However, it is unlikely the 49ers will place too much of a burden on him in that regard. Instead, expect the 49ers to return Huff to a rotational role in which he will be given the freedom to attack and serve as the speed-rushing complement to Nick Bosa that San Francisco has lacked since Dee Ford’s departure. There is, of course, no guarantee that a change of scenery and a reunion with Saleh will have the desired results. However, with the restructure of his contract, it is the kind of low-risk, high-reward bet the 49ers can afford to make. Huff becomes the 49ers’ much-needed pass-rush specialist. He won’t have to worry about being an every-down player with the likes of Mykel Williams and Nick Bosa. It should also allow Mykel to kick inside on obvious passing downs and is insurance in case Yetur Gross-Matos doesn’t stay healthy for...
