Jalen Hurts may have another new offensive coordinator, but the Eagles QB will stand on his own feet - Inquirer
With Patullo, the Eagles are expected to maintain much of Moore’s offense and his verbiage. But, in truth, the final product was never quite close to previous iterations of his scheme. He brought new elements to the passing game, and to how it married with the ground game. But the offense reverted back to more of what Hurts was comfortable doing when it was decided after a 2-2 start to emphasize Barkley and the run game. And that meant reinstalling some of the Sirianni-Steichen scheme that had supposedly gotten stale in 2023. Patullo will bring his own thoughts to the table. Hurts said there are “some nuances.” Sirianni brought Patullo to Philadelphia in the first place to help with the run-pass option game. But as Hurts enters his fifth season as the starter, it’s essentially his offense more than anyone’s, even if Barkley, receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, et al., also factor into design. And Patullo should understand that.
Eagles Film Review: Smael Mondon Jr. has the traits to develop into more than a backup - BGN
I think Mondon is an interesting option as a subpackage defender early in his career. He has legitimate speed and athleticism, and Vic Fangio might use him sparingly in obvious passing downs where he can drop into coverage or blitz from depth. I am always a fan of having aggressive and fast options on defense, and Mondon gives the defense and special teams unit another young, fast option. It’s hard to complain about this one! If he can get physically stronger and bigger, he has the traits to develop into more than a backup. I’ll be interested to watch his development over the next few years.
Jason Kelce offers to talk to owners to clear up misconceptions about the tush push - PFT
Kelce said on his New Heights podcast that he wanted to travel to the owners’ meeting in Minnesota so that he could explain that his comments about the tush push were in no way intended to suggest it’s a dangerous play or was a factor in his retirement. “I’m actually going to Minnesota,” Kelce said. “There were some things said at the last owners’ meeting, some of the owners and coaches hinted that the reason I stopped playing was because of the tush push, and that I got hurt on the tush push frequently. I’m just going to answer any questions people have about my partaking in this play. I don’t care whether it gets banned or not. At the end of the day, this is why you vote on things, and if they vote to ban the tush push, the Eagles are still going to run a quarterback sneak at a very high percentage. I’m just going to offer, if anybody has any...
