Will Kyle Pitts be playing for the Falcons in 2025?
Kirk Cousins isn’t the only player that the Atlanta Falcons need to make a major decision on. The franchise has received interest from multiple teams in trading for Kyle Pitts. Following another inconsistent season with more frustration than gratification in the ultra-talented tight end’s performances, many have pondered whether Pitts is best suited to playing in Atlanta.
Would his skill set be maximized more effectively in a different offense? Are the Falcons fighting a losing battle trying to integrate Pitts into their weekly game plan?
There’s no denying Pitts has impressive traits. He also shined in games against playoff teams. His two-touchdown performance against Tampa Bay showed his dynamism making two exceptional plays. There was a 50-yard catch against Kansas City where his ability to stretch the field shined.
Let’s not forget he caught Michael Penix Jr.’s first career touchdown pass with less than two minutes on fourth down to help send a pivotal game against Washington into overtime.
Those moments must be acknowledged, but it’s certainly not enough production from a player who entered the league with massive expectations. There have been far too many games where Pitts is a non-factor. He would occasionally give up on routes. His body language was poor at times. These issues have culminated in where the front office needs to consider his future going forward.
Should they continue to work on getting Pitts back to being a weekly difference-maker like he was in his rookie season or is it time for a fresh start? The fan base is unsurprisingly conflicted about the decision.
Nearly half of voters believe the Falcons should move on from the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft. The split in the fanbase shows how difficult of a decision it will be for the front office. They will need to assess what kind of offer would satisfy them without sacrificing their 2025 contention chances. Terry Fontenot would also have to fully concede his first draft as general manager was a colossal disappointment.
Will the Falcons decide to trade one of their biggest draft picks ever? What should they receive in return if they agree to an offer? Let us know below.
