The NFL coaching carousel is in full force following decisions made by Baltimore and Miami to part ways with their respective head coaches. It creates more competition between teams in search of their new leader. It also brings more intrigue with John Harbaugh’s remarkable resume and Mike McDaniel’s strategic offensive mind. Harbaugh will command the attention of every team looking for a new coach, but McDaniel should receive some consideration for how he turned Miami into one of the most prolific offenses in the league in 2022 and 2023.
Given his legacy with the Ravens and overall command he had within the organization for nearly two decades, it’s impossible not to be excited by the former Super Bowl winner. While his time ended there in an incredibly disappointing manner, Harbaugh built one of the NFL’s premier contenders and battled against some of the NFL’s all-time greatest quarterbacks in the AFC.
There are other coaching candidates fans prefer over him. Klint Kubiak worked wonders with a Seattle offense that entered the season with numerous question marks. His ability to construct a cohesive system to maximize Sam Darnold’s skillset and bring stability to a highly questionable offensive line deserves enormous praise. Despite Cleveland’s downfall after a terrific 2023, Kevin Stefanski is attracting plenty of interest from teams. What he developed in Minnesota, and how he delivered some of Cleveland’s most impressive recent successful seasons, must be acknowledged. Kubiak and Stefanski received plenty of votes, but finished below the 2019 NFL Coach of the Year, who has earned an extraordinary eight road playoff wins.
The urgency to start fresh has reenergized the fan base. Arthur Blank is working diligently to revive an organization in disarray with the help of a franchise legend who helped lead the team back to prominence in 2008. Matt Ryan is officially the new Falcons’ President of Football. Between several exciting coaches on the market and Ryan’s desire to take a significant role within the organization, Falcon fans are feeling much more confident in the team’s direction.
Who do you believe will be the new head coach in Atlanta? Are you excited about Ryan’s return? Let us know below.
