The Denver Broncos sure are easy to cheer for this season. As a fan first who tries his level best to get as objective as possible, it is hard at times to stay grounded when your team is 6-2 and looking each week like they are improving in multiple areas.

These next few weeks are going to test the Broncos. They will be without their most talented veteran player in Patrick Surtain II. If the defense does show some vulnerability in the secondary, the pressure is going to be dialed up on the offense.

That’s where concern needs to be. Truth be told, the offense has not been consistent. In my mind, last week’s game vs the Cowboys is veritably useless as a measure of how well the offense is doing. Their defense was just that bad.

What I do put my faith in for this team is the coaching staff. On both sides of the ball, we’re seeing a very high level of game plan, scheme adjustments, and preparation for this team that we’ve not seen since the Shanahan years. The offense may be shaky at times, but Payton has the next play dialed in to put them in a great situation to make a play. The defense may get challenged, but Vance Joseph is showing that he’s able to adjust in-game on the fly to anything a team wants to do to them.

I’ve always been a big fan of players making plays. This season I think it is worthwhile to appreciate what an advantage this team gets from this coaching staff. They are collectively dialed in and locked onto what needs to be done week-to-week and play-by-play.
