Kansas City’s first-year players will get their NFL careers underway this weekend.

Last weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs acquired seven new players during the 2025 NFL Draft: tackle Josh Simmons, defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, defensive end Ashton Gillotte, cornerback Nohl Williams, wide receiver Jalen Royals, linebacker Jeff Bassa and running back Brashard Smith.

From Saturday through Monday, these players — along with more than a dozen newly-signed undrafted free agents, 40-50 tryout players and a handful of veterans — will participate in Kansas City’s rookie minicamp at the team’s practice facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex. Under the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), these sessions are the only weekend activities allowed during each team’s offseason program.

While we expect nearly all of the team’s drafted rookies will make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster in September, more than half of the team’s undrafted free agents will fail to make the cut. But for them — and one or two tryout players the team might sign after the weekend — the sky is the limit.

We expect to have virtual media sessions with some of these rookies on both Saturday and Monday, along with head coach Andy Reid.
