The Dallas Cowboys are taking part in mandatory minicamp this week as they get ready for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The Cowboys have made several big moves this offseason, including signing kicker Brandon Aubrey to a record-breaking contract that will keep him with the franchise long-term.

Now, Cowboys insider Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News has revealed how Aubrey’s name has come up in some friendly trash talk between the Cowboys’ offense and defense at minicamp.

“Ryan Flournoy said new Cowboys DC Christian Parker has been talking trash to the offense, and vice versa. One example: Parker will tell the offense in team to go get Brandon Aubrey out because they’re about to get stopped. The offense has chirped back, of course,” reported Hoyt on X, formerly Twitter.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with the two sides mustering up some competitive juice to get through the dog days of the offseason. Aubrey has long been known as the NFL’s premier weapon as a kicker, with range extending to nearly 70 yards and making Dallas a threat to put points on the board anytime they get the ball to midfield.

Coming into this offseason, there was some speculation that a long contract saga might be on the horizon between the two sides, but thankfully, that was resolved on a new four-year deal.

Aubrey and the offense both had strong seasons last year for the Cowboys, who unfortunately saw their defense not live up to the challenge during the 2025 campaign. Dallas hopes that the moves it has made on that side of the ball this offseason will be enough to balance out the roster and get the team back into the playoffs for the first time since 2023-24.
