It was a day of mixed emotions, as it undoubtedly hurts the Lions’ chances to continue their success, but it’s also hard not to feel happy for the player who battled chronic injuries for a half-decade to put that suffering to an end to start his post-football life with his family—which will soon include two young children.

There are few people more appreciative of a good center than a stable of running backs. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs owe a lot of their success to Ragnow, and they know it—as does another former Lions running back I’ve included in here:
Earlier this offseason, defensive lineman John Cominsky announced his retirement from football due to an injury he just could not overcome. Unsurprisingly, Cominsky left a heartfelt message calling Ragnow “the best to ever do it.”
