Cameras caught a fascinating postgame interaction between Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell after the Detroit Lions’ 19-16 victory at Soldier Field.
Dan Campbell’s Lions ended their disappointing 2025 season with a last-second road win over the Chicago Bears. Jake Bates kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to secure a fourth straight winning season.
After the game, cameras caught a short and seemingly sour interaction between Johnson and his former boss in Detroit:
🚨🚨THE BEEF CONTINUES🚨🚨#Lions head coach Dan Campbell and #Bears HC Ben Johnson had a very QUICK post-game handshake after today’s game.

This is fascinating because Ben Johnson’s two postgame handshakes with Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur looked anything but pleasant. As you may recall, Johnson said at his Bears’ introductory press conference that he enjoys “beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.”
The Lions were eliminated from the playoffs with a stunning loss on Christmas Day to the Minnesota Vikings. But a road win over a heated NFC North rival is a nice way to close out the year. Detroit also secured the season-series sweep, a reminder that the gap between them and the NFC North champions is very small.
