The Arch Manning sweepstakes may have to wait until 2027

With the New Orleans Saints deep in the middle of a quarterback battle, the conversation about the future starter will still hold firm until someone can prove themselves. The next franchise QB may be on the roster, could be a future free agent, or might be in the draft. Usually, when there is uncertainty over the future at QB, the draft is where many people tend to focus for answers. In the past draft class, this position was underwhelming, but in 2026/2027, the outlook is much better. One of the reasons for this comes down to one player, Texas QB Arch Manning.

Being a part of the Manning family already creates intrigue around the young QB, but he has the skills and tools to back it up. To say Manning is a future number one overall pick is more of an expectation rather than a guess, but the main question is if that will happen in 2026 or 2027. Manning is eligible to enter the NFL Draft after this season, and if he does, teams that have no long-term answer at QB will be in the race for Arch. It is also important to note that there has always been doubt that Manning would enter in 2026 and forgo another year of development in college. This would now push the Texas QB to the 2027 draft class, but nothing has been confirmed that this is going to happen. Still, today, a pretty reliable source spoke on the topic, and it seems the Arch Manning Sweepstakes will take shape in 2027.

“Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas,” – Archie Manning when asked about Arch Manning declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft (Via TexasMonthly)

Anything can happen between now and the deadline for prospects to declare for the 2026 draft, but if Archie Manning’s statement holds and the Saints still need a franchise QB, they may want to wait until 2027.
