The Seattle Seahawks open their training camp on Saturday. As always, a new season means having to learn a lot of new names and faces before the August preseason opener, and the roster churn will continue over the next several weeks at the bottom-end of the 90-man roster.
To get you primed for training camp, we’re providing a quick look at which players are brand new to the squad and thus have no ties to the Super Bowl season. Players like D’Anthony Bell, who spent much of last season with Seattle before getting claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers, do not count as “new” upon return.
Jadarian Price, running back. Seattle lost Kenneth Walker III in free agency and won’t have Zach Charbonnet for an undetermined length of time after his ACL tear. The Seahawks were destined to take a running back in the draft and they went with Notre Dame’s Price in the first round. He’ll be one of the most watched players throughout the season.
Bud Clark, safety. Having lost Coby Bryant in free agency, the Seahawks zeroed in on ball-hawkin’ Bud Clark from TCU. Hard to look away from 15 interceptions over four seasons when trying to find another high-level player in the secondary.
Julian Neal, cornerback. With Riq Woolen out of the picture, the Seahawks’ third-rounder was used on Arkansas corner Julian Neal, who possesses the size and length befitting of many Seattle secondaries of yesteryear.
Beau Stephens, offensive line. The Iowa guard was so coveted by the Seahawks that John Schneider gave up a 2027 draft pick to move back into the fifth round to take him. Anthony Bradford’s replacement? Not so fast. But he’s an intriguing prospect.
Emmanuel Henderson Jr, wide receiver. Seattle’s wide receiver room is crowded already, but the sixth-round pick out of Kansas does have plenty of special teams experience that gives him a fighting chance to make the roster.
Andre Fuller, cornerback. Seattle was busy adding corners in the draft, including a seventh-round flyer on Toledo’s Fuller. Just by the very nature of the Seahawks’ current CB room and being a seventh-rounder, he has an uphill battle to make the roster, but by no means should he be counted out.
Deven Eastern, nose tackle. It’s an inauspicious start to Eastern’s NFL career, having been placed on PUP to start training camp after missing minicamp and OTAs with an undisclosed injury. The former Minnesota defensive tackle figured to factor into the competition to at least be rotational depth, but that’s up in the air pending any clarity on his injury.
Michael Dansby, cornerback. The Seahawks’ final pick was used on another corner, the unheralded Michael Dansby out of Arizona. Treydan Stukes got all the attention among the Arizona DBs, but Dansby wasn’t a bystander on that Wildcats defense. Admittedly, it looks like his best shot to make the roster is as a special teams gunner.
