Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders left one of his coaches speechless with a ridiculous throw during Cleveland Browns practice.

Sanders is one of the top rookies under the microscope heading into training camp. He was widely expected to be an early first-round pick, but he unexpectedly fell to round five before Cleveland selected him with the No. 144 selection.

Shedeur Sanders joins a Browns quarterback room consisting of 2023 Comeback Player of the Year Joe Flacco, 2022 first-round selection Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Deshaun Watson is recovering from a torn Achilles and will miss most (if not all) of 2025.

On Tuesday, a clip surfaced of Sanders threading the needle with a beautiful pass to undrafted rookie Gage Larvadain in practice:

Browns rookie minicamp and OTAs reporter Corey Skuza responded to the video and claims one Cleveland coach turned to him and said, “That might just be the best pass I’ve ever seen.”

A Browns coach looked at me after this and word for word he said..

“Cory.. that might just be the best pass I’ve ever seen” 😳#DawgPound https://t.co/mpjfuHaU0X

Sanders was widely regarded as the No. 2 quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft behind Miami’s Cam Ward, the eventual first overall pick. But as Tom Brady told Sanders in a personal text message, he just has to use the draft slide as “motivation.”

Shedeur Sanders Should Get Every Opportunity To Win Browns’ Starting QB Job

Sanders may have unexpectedly slipped in the draft, but don’t discount his chances of winning the QB1 job in Cleveland. For starters, he’s by far the most talented of the bunch on the depth chart.

Flacco is a 40-year-old journeyman and not a full-time starter. Pickett is on his third team in as many seasons for a reason, and Gabriel’s ceiling simply isn’t as as Sanders’. So if Deion Sanders’ son puts the work and effort into succeeding at the NFL level, he’s more than capable of winning the QB1 job.
