Heard “strength vs strength”? Well, this is “weakness vs strength”.
The 2-12 Las Vegas Raiders are currently boasting the worst offense in the NFL. They’ve averaging 244.1 yards per game, 173.4 passing yards per game and 70.8 rushing yards per game. But where the Raiders lose in yardage production, they lose harder in points scored, averaging just 14.0.
14 points. Per GAME.
Needless to say the “Pete Carrol’s on the hot seat” conversations are roiling. If Al Davis was still alive, Carroll would likely already walk among the fans.
Meanwhile, Demeco Ryans is the first name that arises in many Coach of the Year discussions, As it should. In fact, with the reemergence of quarterback C.J. Stroud, Houston finds itself front and center in “Super Bowl Favorite” conversations for the first time, ever, as far as the Texans are concerned.
What does Pete Carroll and the anemic Raider offense have to look forward to, you ask?
Texans defense over the last 5 weeks:
15.6 points per game allowed
17 total sacks
8 takeaways
Now, every team on their way has an off-game, and maybe this is that game for Houston. But it’s hard to imagine Demeco Ryans letting off the gas… ever. Hopefully none of the Texans players start believing their own hype, or think they’ve arrived, because there’s still a lot of football between now and the Super Bowl.
Yeah… sorry/not sorry Raider Nation, it’s likely gonna get ugly for the Silver & Black this weekend.
