DT Kurt Hinish has four starts over his first three seasons with the Texans.

On Thursday afternoon, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that the Texans are signing defensive tackle Kurt Hinish to a one-year deal worth up to $2.35 million. The base salary of the deal is $1.8 million.

At 25 years old, Hinish was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after next week’s start to the new league year. Per Wilson, the Texans chose to execute deal over tendering him as a right of first refusal or other level.

The 6’1, 296-pound Hinish is coming off a 2024 campaign where he played in 10 games, recording 12 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Hinish joined the Texans after going undrafted in 2022 out of Notre Dame. He’s played in 42 total games over the past three seasons with four career starts, three of which came during his rookie season. He has career totals of 57 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a single pass breakup.
