Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders are set to embark on what should be a thrilling season. While they have sky-high expectations after reaching the NFC Championship Game last season, that means each individual will have to give a maximum effort to accomplish their goals.

Unfortunately, things are getting off to a bit of a rocky start as Commanders training camp kicks off.

According to Fox Sports’ Henry McKenna, McLaurin is keeping all of his options open when it comes to his future in Washington.

The two-time Pro Bowl receiver rightfully wants a new deal since he’s heading into a contract year. He’d prefer to get that contract from the Commanders so he can continue being Jayden Daniels’ top target. However, as McKenna tells it, McLaurin really just wants to get paid.

As a result, McLaurin is reportedly even willing to consider holding out from training camp in an effort to gain more leverage during contract negotiations. Otherwise, he may be prepared to demand a trade out of D.C.

While the Commanders acquired Deebo Samuel this offseason, he was intended to be a complementary weapon that helps take attention away from McLaurin, not replace him. Yet, when Commanders training camp kicks off, it’s possible Samuel will be the top target on the field.
