Terrell Jennings and Miles Battle reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Monday after serving as standard elevations in both backfields at Nissan Stadium.
The 31-13 win over the Tennessee Titans marked the second call-up for the running back and the first call-up for the defensive back.
Jennings, 24, made his 2025 debut in the kicking game last week for an active depth chart down to starter Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson. Nine snaps of offensive work followed in the final quarter on Sunday. He rushed for 18 yards on a handful of carries, lowering the shoulder for a long of nine. The Florida A&M product also saw eight snaps on special teams as part of punt returns, kickoff returns and kickoff coverage.
In 2024, Jennings signed in Foxborough after attending rookie minicamp as an undrafted tryout. The 6-foot, 217-pound running back went on to lead the team in rushing during his initial NFL preseason before clearing waivers. He would be promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster by year’s end, appearing three games and finishing 33 yards across 13 carries.
Battle, 25, played three snaps on special teams on Sunday against the Titans. His first appearance of the 2025 campaign coincided with fellow cornerback Charles Woods going from questionable to inactive with a knee injury 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
The 6-foot-3, 197-pound Battle re-signed to the practice squad at its formation in August. He began his stay there as a rookie last fall and was added to the active roster leading up to the January finale. From there, two tackles and three passes defensed were notched. The former transfer from Ole Miss to Utah originally entered the league with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024.
Per season and per player, three standard elevations are permitted before requiring a 53-man transaction to take the field.
Head coach Mike Vrabel’s practice squad stands at its 17-man capacity. And now, the same is true for the active roster after linebacker Caleb Murphy was awarded off waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.
